Seed Availability
Commercial quantities of Bandit TT may be available through AGT Affiliates, or your local retailer.
Bandit TT is able to be traded between growers upon the completion of a License Agreement as part of AGT’s Seed Sharing™ initiative.
PBR and EPR
Bandit TT is protected by Plant Breeders Rights (PBR) and all production (except seed saved for planting) is liable to an End Point Royalty (EPR), which funds future plant breeding.
Bandit TT growers will be subject to a Growers License Agreement that acknowledges that an EPR of $10/tonne + GST has to be paid on all production other than seed saved for planting.
Breeders comments
Bandit TT is one of the first of AGT’s TT canola varieties to hit the paddock.
We started breeding OP canola in 2016 in response to calls from growers for alternatives to the ‘hybrid only’ approach that many seed companies were taking and are excited to see these low risk, financially profitable varieties in the hands of growers.
Bandit TT (tested as AGTC0006) is very quick to flower and has shown its best performance relative to other varieties in lower rainfall and stressed environments. We expect this is where Bandit TT will find its place; helping growers to deal with inevitable late breaks or absent spring rains. In AGT trials Bandit TT showed a profitability improvement over HyTTec® Trident of $20/ha at sites with an average yield 2t/ha and lower. Combined with lower upfront cost (risk), we believe that Bandit TT offers growers an important tool on their farms. Bandit TT may even provide non traditional canola growers, in lower rainfall districts, with a lower risk option to access the many rotational benefits that canola can bring to a farming system.
While Bandit TT belongs to the group A blackleg resistance group, its quantitative resistance rating of MRMS should provide growers with a useful level of protection in the target environments.
