Breeders comments

Arising from a Mace backcross, Sting has emerged out of our breeding program as a high yielding, quicker maturing variety which is particularly suited to the low-medium rainfall environments of WA.

We view Sting as a higher yielding alternative LRPB Havoc, whilst offering a complementary variety to use in conjunction with leading variety Scepter. As an alternative to Vixen, Sting offers competitive yields with better stripe rust resistance, and is not as quick to mature, giving Sting a more flexible sowing window.

Sting offers growers a reliable physical grain quality package, with an AH quality classification.

PBR and EPR

Sting is protected by Plant Breeders Rights (PBR) and all production (except seed saved for planting) is liable to an End Point Royalty (EPR), which funds future plant breeding.

Sting growers will be subject to a Grower License Agreement that acknowledges that an EPR of $3.50/tonne + GST must be paid on all production other than seed saved for planting.
